Arsenal's manager has voiced fears that his team's chase for titles this campaign is being threatened by a worrying circle of fitness setbacks and a relentless fixture list.

Fresh Team Update

Star player Declan Rice did not travel for the Champions League trip to face Club Brugge due to sickness. In addition, attacker Leandro Trossard and center-back William Saliba are still unavailable.

There was, however, positive news regarding Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazilian striker registered to their Champions League squad. He comes in for the hurt youngster Max Dowman, who picked up an foot injury.

"Practice, no because we don't have time to train. But clearly the fact that you are missing players, you are loading other players more, there's a knock-on effect to that and it's a really vicious cycle."

Dowman's issue is the latest in a long series of fitness problems for the North London side. Since the start of last season, they have suffered 95 injuries, the second-most total in the Premier League.

Extended Absences

• Defenders Cristhian Mosquera and Gabriel Magalhães are not expected to be back until 2025.
• Midfielder Kai Havertz still recover from surgery and "needs more time," according to the boss.

Arteta rejected the idea that practice intensity were to blame, pointing to a lack of time for drills. He emphasized the pressure on fit players, some of whom have played over 150 games in two seasons.

Transfer Plans

Even after a significant off-season spend over £250 million, Arteta stated the team is not looking to enter the January recruitment market.

"Right now we're just focusing on getting the players back and hopefully it will be a matter of weeks," he commented. "It's clear how crucial those weeks are going to be."

Next Challenge

The squad suffered their initial loss in 18 games at the weekend, cutting their lead at the summit of the Premier League to two points.

Attention now turns to the European stage, where a sixth group win would virtually guarantee a top-eight place. Forward Gabriel Martinelli could make a club record by scoring in a fifth consecutive European fixture.

"We are frustrated with the result, but we have to move forward," he stated. "This isn't like all is going wrong because we lost one game. So we stick together."
