The British tennis star secured the most notable win of his professional journey by rallying from a set down to defeat top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz in three hard-fought sets in the early stage of the Paris Masters.

Although he had earlier overcome Alcaraz on two separate matches, this victory represents Norrie's initial success over a current world top-ranked player.

"Huge. So big for me," commented Norrie, who joins as the latest British man in the record books to beat a global number one. "Bouncing back from health issues last year, I fell in the opening stage of qualifying rounds here. I just sought to appreciate my tennis in the second half of the year. To get a win like this, it's the most significant victory of my professional life, my maiden triumph over the top player and probably the strongest player in the world right now."

Norrie, positioned 31st globally, also halted Alcaraz's supreme sequence of nine finals in a row and 17 straight premier event wins, which marked the best series of outcomes in the Spaniard's early professional path.

The top seed appeared to be progressing easily to a win in the beginning as he eased through the opening set. However, Norrie steadily fought his way back into the game by delivering with improved accuracy and engaging the Spaniard into lengthy, physical rallies.
