President Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked Guard Personnel to the White House
President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Tragic Shooting
Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Gatherings across the state have been held in their memory.
White House Invitation
The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both members of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump addressed the press. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”
Community Support
Attendees came together over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid public safety in the capital.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that educators desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the press. “She was kind, considerate and always ready to help others.”
Funeral details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Actions and Policy Revisions
Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The tragedy led the government to suspend asylum processing and cease providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of the Airman
Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, according to the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor told the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
