The British government is set to progress with employing the entire amount of frozen Russian holdings to bolster the Ukrainian war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a collective announcement, the leaders of the UK, France, and Germany emphasized that this unified step would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the move would be executed in close cooperation with the United States.

UK sanctions have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russia's resources since Russia began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. However, previously, money provided to the Ukrainian government using Russian holdings had solely been drawn from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their goal to advance efforts toward using the complete amount of the immobilized Russian sovereign holdings to halt hostilities.

He stated that further sanctions soon would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This statement is subsequent to European Union representatives convened in Copenhagen recently to discuss utilizing seized Russian funds for a €140bn credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, President Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to seize or utilize seized Russia's assets, as reported by news outlets.

The total of seized Russian funds in the Europe is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

Russia carried out extensive bombardments all over Ukraine on Friday, causing power cuts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv, and several other zones.
