The teenager, who also had his Real debut in the qualifying round a few weeks prior with a substitute appearance at Sporting Lisbon, then helped Los Blancos overcome the English champions in the midweek second leg to confirm a quarter-final berth.

Rapid Ascent From The Academy

This talent is the most recent to emerge from the famed youth system and is quickly establishing himself as one of Alvaro Arbeloa's most promising young players.

He joined Madrid from Leganes in the summer of 2023, having formerly spent time at Atletico Madrid and Getafe academies, and initially featuring for the under-19 side, where he rapidly created a positive impact.

Pitarch progressed to the reserve side and it was in a pre-season game in which they played against the senior squad, then managed by Arbeloa, where the teenager is said to have caught the attention of the present manager, who took over from the previous coach in the new year.

Reports would later describe the moment as "love at first sight," adding Pitarch stood out not only for his skill on the ball, but for the energy, character and drive he added to the side.

'His Best Attribute Is His Personality'

During the summer of 2025, ex-manager Alonso invited the youngster to practice with the first team and gave him playing time in pre-season.

However, it was Arbeloa's appointment that proved the turning point in his development as he came on as a late substitute in each leg against Benfica that led to the clash with Pep Guardiola's team.

"I have dreamed of this each night when sleeping, the very first time I started playing football, each day you head to training and every day you have a game," said Pitarch following his debut.

"I've just fulfilled my dream with the best team in the world and in the top tournament."

Handed a first start in the Spanish league against his former club - where he was for several seasons after arriving from Atletico in 2018 - he has retained his place for the following four as fitness issues to Bellingham and Dani Ceballos created an opening.

Pitarch has taken it with displays that have defied his age and experience.

"He's a extremely fast footballer, and you can see his capabilities," said Arbeloa. "He's incredibly dynamic, with excellent stamina, work-rate and movement."

Pitarch's mentality has also stood out to his manager.

"His greatest quality is his personality," added Arbeloa. "He constantly demands the ball, and even under pressure, he doesn't feel it.

"I understand fans might be surprised to see him start in a Champions League match, but he is selected because I had complete confidence in him to do his normal game.

"Thiago will continue to get chances with the main squad. It is delightful to have a talent like him."
